How much does a website cost in 2026?

14 May 2026 · Reading: 6 min

It’s the question everyone asks us, and the honest answer is: it depends. But “it depends” doesn’t help you decide — so here are the real prices, the factors that determine them and the mistakes to avoid when comparing quotes.

The real prices, no beating about the bush

For professional, bespoke work optimised for Google, these are the ballpark figures in the Italian market in 2026:

  • Showcase site (4–8 pages): from €1,500 to €3,500 — company presentation, contacts, basic SEO.
  • Corporate or multilingual site: from €3,000 to €8,000 — more pages, more languages, polished content.
  • Full e-commerce: from €3,000 to €10,000 — catalogue, payments, shipping, training.
  • Bespoke portals and platforms: from €5,000 upwards — reserved areas, management software, integrations.

Below these figures you find off-the-shelf templates, copycat sites or improvised work: sometimes they do the job, more often you pay twice.

Not a rigid price list, but a realistic order of magnitude. Below these figures you find off-the-shelf templates: sometimes they work, more often you pay twice.

What really pushes the price up (or down)

Four things weigh more than the rest: the number of pages and languages, la content production (professional copy and photos cost money, but make the difference), the features (bookings, reserved areas, integrations with management software) and the level of SEO optimisation required from launch.

Beware of figures that are too low. A €300 site exists, but it’s usually a template with your logo on top: slow, identical to a thousand others and invisible on Google. The initial saving turns into a restyle a year later. The “save now and see how it goes” reasoning is what most often leads to spending twice: an improvised site, slow or invisible on Google, has to be redone before long, and in the meantime it has lost customers instead of bringing them in. The figures above aren’t a rigid price list, but a realistic order of magnitude to understand which bracket a job built to last and to perform falls into.

The recurring costs to factor in

Beyond the build, a site lives on three annual costs: domain (15–30 €), hosting (€80 to €400 depending on the project) and maintenance — updates, backups and security — starting from a few tens of euros a month. Neglecting the last item is the quickest way to end up with a compromised site.

What if the budget isn’t there yet?

You start smaller, not worse. Five well-made pages — the ones that answer a buyer’s questions — beat twenty half-filled ones: the rest can be added once the site has brought the first enquiries, and by then you also know which pages are actually needed. What is not worth saving on is the foundation: domain and hosting in your name, the certificate, text written by someone who understands your trade, and maintenance. If budget is a constraint, say so at quoting stage: you decide together what to do now and what later, instead of finding out halfway through that the numbers do not add up.

How to compare quotes

When you compare two quotes, always check: what’s included (copy? photos? SEO?), who will own the domain and site (it must be you), what the subsequent annual costs are and whether training is provided to manage it yourself. A serious quote answers all these questions in writing.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a website cost in 2026?

The cost depends on goals, number of pages, features and content: a showcase site is priced very differently from an e-commerce or a management system. That’s why we always prepare a detailed, free quote within 24 hours, with no obligation.

Why do website quotes vary so much?

Because “website” covers very different projects: strategy, custom design, features, SEO and maintenance all change. A very low price often hides recycled templates or missing services; what matters is checking what’s included.
